Yannah Valdevit new single

The first single from Croatian singer, songwriter, producer and pianist Yannah Valdevit is released today on Tru Thoughts, Full Thought take exclusive publishing rights on the single too.

“Gotta Keep Me Goin’” / “Pick Flowers” is the first single from Croatian singer, songwriter, producer and pianist Yannah Valdevit, following the recent announcement of her signing to Tru Thoughts, which has prompted over 10,000 plays of the two tracks on the label’s Soundcloud in under a week. The double A-side digital package precedes the ‘Equilibrium’ album, which is co-produced by label mate and long-time collaborator Zed Bias.

Yannah takes an inventive approach to song structure, using her fine voice in unconventional and multi-layered patterns. She deploys her vocals as another instrument in the mix alongside cutting edge beats, jazz inflections, melodic hooks and lush string arrangements, for a euphoric and emotional feel with a nod to the Balearic sound perfected in a previous incarnation as part of the duo Eddy Meets Yannah (who released three successful albums on Compost Records between 2003 and 2010).

New Hidden Orchestra track

Last week we told you the exciting news that Hidden Orchestra will be releasing their sophomore album, well today the team at Line Of Best Fit have premiered the first piece of material from the album. The track is called Vorka and will be released as a AA side with Spoken on 10th September. Here's what TLOBF had to say about it:

"Tru Thoughts’ next project fits nicely into this space. Hidden Orchestra are an Edinburgh group that cribs from the handbooks of jazz, trip-hop (bear with us), and contemporary classical composition to produce a hazy, uncanny sound that owes as much to The Avalanches as it does to the 20th Century jazz cannon.

‘Vorka’ is a suitably cinematic introduction to the band’s second album. With tape-bend wobbles and a theremin-esque saw hook, it’s a disorienting wend through a faded-film world of spectre-filled forests – and we’re happy to premiere it here today." (Line Of Best Fit - Link)

New Hidden Orchestra album, 'Archipelago'

Full Thought are delighted to announce the imminent second album from Hidden Orchestra. Entitled ‘Archipelago’, the album will be released on Tru Thoughts on the 1st October on CD, digital and premium vinyl.

Following their 10,000 selling debut, ‘Night Walks’, the new LP sees Joe Acheson, the musical mastermind behind the talented Edinburgh four-piece, exploring and developing many of the themes from their debut while introducing new guest players, instruments and found sounds.

The core quartet of Hidden Orchestra is formed around the duelling drum kits, percussion and electronic pads of drummers Tim Lane and Jamie Graham, completed with the piano and violin of Poppy Ackroyd and Acheson’s bass and original samples. Their star has risen steadily since the release of ‘Night Walks’, with a genuinely organic buzz building as word has spread about their intricately crafted yet viscerally emotive and energetic sound; complemented by the highly in-demand live show which they have toured through more than 20 countries, in addition to tour support slots for acts including Bonobo.

Full Thought are publishing Archipelago, material will be available very soon...

Quantic and Alice storm through 2012

Quantic and Alice Russell's 'Look Around the Corner' is continuing to storm through 2012 with success after success. After being released in April the album has had a huge amount of support accross the board. This month iTunes included it in their 'Best of 2012 so far' list alongside Lana Del Rey, Emeli Sandé, Alabama Shakes and Bruce Springsteen. Lead single 'Look Around the Corner' was placed on the Radio 6 Music playlist and has had extensive support from DJs such as Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio 6), Giles Peterson (BBC Radio 6), Huey Morgan (BBC Radio 6) and Jamie Cullum who invited them to do a Maida Vale session for his BBC Radio 2 show. State side the support has been flooding in too, after a string of successful shows at SXSW the band took themselves on a US tour, which included sold out LA shows and a studio session for KCRW (which you can watch here).

The sound of this record mixes sweet soul and blues with overtones of folk and gospel, and the inimitable swing of Quantic’s world-renowned outfit the Combo Bárbaro. Such sounds have earned them a sync with Lipton for their new 'Sun Tea' drink, the advert is currently being broadcast in territories across Europe. Riz MC - The Sonic Resistance continues

Riz MC (AKA Riz Ahmed) has been extremely busy in recent months - aside from starring in Ill Manors, the directorial debut from Ben Drew (AKA Plan B), Riz has released the critically acclaimed album MICroscope on Tru Thoughts. Full Thought are extremely pleased to be in charge of the publishing. Sleepin' Giantz have been released...

Full Thought are extremely excited to announce that the Sleepin' Giantz album is released today. The collaborative effort between Rodney P, Zed Bias and Fallacy is released on Tru Thoughts Records. Please get in contact with us if you are interesting in licensing the tracks or if you have any suitable sync pitches - we're available at mail@fullthought.co.uk.

The Sleepin’ Giantz project sees Zed Bias (the main musical alter-ego of Manchester based producer Dave Jones - pioneer of breakbeat garage and much loved by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac among others) joining forces with two MCs: Rodney P (the London Posse man widely regarded as the Godfather of British hip hop) and Fallacy, often described as the missing link between UK hip hop and grime. Joining the dots between hip hop, house, grime, dubstep and garage, the ‘Sleepin’ Giantz’ album is a masterclass from these three UK heavyweights, with guest spots from Fox and Jenna G
