Anchorsong: 'Darkrum / Hit The Bottom' Release

Anchorsong's new digital single, Darkrum/Hit The Bottom, is out today. It's the second single to be lifted from Japanese electronic artist Anchorsong’s debut album ‘Chapters’, highlighting a standout track alongside exclusive brand new material and remixes. The single has recieved support from Fact Mag, John Kennedy (XFM) and Hugh Stevens (Radio 1).

With an unshakable melodic hook, overlaid in unusual instrumental textures, “Darkrum” is an atmospheric and suspenseful track that shows how Anchorsong’s diverse influences, from classic heavy rock to glitchy electronica and dark melodic pop, can fuse into something entirely new – and has proven to be one of the most popular cuts on the LP. On this single it is given the remix treatment by exciting UK producers Kidkanevil (who has recently produced for Foreign Beggars) and Throwing Snow (Ho Tep/Local Action) for a fresh injection of cutting edge flavour, and a brand new track, “Hit The Bottom”, is also unveiled.

Yannah Valdevit: Press and album release

Yannah Valdevit's Equilibrium album will be out in the shops on the 10th September. The album, co-produced by garage don Zed Bias, is already attracting attention, after receiving early coverage from FACT magazine it has now been reviewed by the NME. They said:
"‘Equilibrium’ is a gem… elegantly captivating"
giving it a 7/10, you can read the review here. Further coverage and support has come from Q, DJ Mag and Laurent Garnier.

Yannah takes an inventive approach to song structure, using her voice in unconventional and multi-layered patterns – another instrument in the mix alongside cutting edge beats, jazz inflections, melodic hooks and lush string arrangements. The emotive style nods to the Balearic sound she perfected in a previous incarnation as part of Eddy Meets Yannah (who released three successful albums on Compost between 2003 and 2010). With UK garage and dubstep pioneer Zed Bias (aka Maddslinky) on board, it would be easy to assume the killer basslines and beats on ‘Equilibrium’ were his work; in fact, Yannah – a highly in-demand producer in her own right - built this sound from the ground up. While the man like Bias donated his legendary beat-making skills to two tracks on the album, his main role was to add that magic touch with a nuanced and soulful mix-down at his Manchester studio.
