Quantic announces new album 'Magnetica' / See new video via The Guardian

The sum of many musical adventures, this stunning LP is entitled ‘Magnetica’ and will be coming out on 5^th May in the UK and rest of the World and 6^th May in the USA on Tru Thoughts.

Lifting the lid on the record, The Guardian have just premiered the first official single, “Duvido feat. Pongolove”, along with an intoxicating video filmed in Colombia by B+.

‘Magnetica’ sees Quantic revisiting his electronic roots, blending cutting-edge and distinctive production with elements of folk, reggae, soul, highlife, cumbia and more. Other featured guests on the album include Alice Russell, Shinehead, Nidia Gongora, Dereb The Ambassador, Thalma De Freitas and Anibal Velásquez; illuminating the sounds, styles and languages of Ethiopia, Jamaica, Brazil, the UK and beyond.

Hot 8 Brass Band at the Grammys

Hot 8 Brass Band were pipped to the post last night at the Grammy Awards, with the band coming second in the Regional Roots Category. We have always been extremely proud to work with this sensational New Orleans ensemble, and the fact we can now officially call them the Grammy-Nominated Hot 8 Brass Band is something that we will enjoy immensely! The Hot 8 are partying in LA as we speak, and you never know what amazing collaboration or tour will spring up from the festivities (previous hook-ups have included Mos Def, Lauryn Hill and many more) so watch this space for the next instalment of news in the Hot 8 story, and in the meantime why not immerse yourself in the album that gained them the nomination, “The Life & Times Of…”, as well as the sister album, “Tombstone”, to see just what all the fuss is about.

Ty's 'Kick Snare and an Idea Part 3' is out today!

Finally, Part 3 of Ty's “Kick Snare & An Idea” series is upon us, bringing more new music, plus remixes from DJ Spinna and a host of other top producers. “Kick Snare & An Idea Part 3” is out today.

Part 3 opens with the brand new track “It's All Right”. Co-produced by Ty and his regular studio comrade Drew Horley, Ty's trademark playful genre blending is apparent as it veers into progressive territory with a stirring, snaking and scintillating synth outro.

The single also sees the legendary DJ and producer Spinna bringing a new remix of “Knock Knock”, one of the most popular cuts of the whole “Kick Snare...” project, which has been hailed by many as the laid back party jam of the year.

With “Kick Snare & An Idea” Parts 1 & 2 both scoring BBC 6Music Playlisting, has already gained attention from other Radio and TV stations, Radio 1/1Xtra and MTV including MistaJam, Gilles Peterson, Charlie Sloth, and Mr Scruff all calling themselves fans.

Hidden Orchestra's 'Fourth Wall' features on Converse's 'Skate on Art' Video

Hidden Orchestra's stunning track, 'Fourth Wall’, has been featured in Converse’s new ‘CONS Space 002 BLN: Skate on Art’ promo video. For a two week period in October, Converse took over three floors of an abandoned textile factory to create the second CONS Space with skaters, sculptors and live-in artists. The ground floor Skate Lab featured sculptures designed by Roberto Cuellar. These sculptures have been created as artwork being fully skateable obstacles at the same time.

‘Fourth Wall’ features on Hidden Orchestra's album, ‘Archipelago’, released in 2012. Their sound combines two live drummers, organic samples and dubby basslines to make cinematic, emotive, percussive music - a style which certainly complements the unique production of this video.

This isn't the first time that Hidden Orchestra have been used to promote top brands, previously Hugo Boss used Flight on their Spring/Summer video (View Here), and Reiss’ Autumn/Winter Men and Women’s collection (Click here: Women's / Men's) .
