Quantic and Alice Russell - I'd Cry / Here Again - OUT NOW

I’d Cry”/”Here Again” is the third single to be taken from the ‘Look Around The Corner’ album by Quantic and Alice Russell with the Combo Bárbaro. As a special treat for the fans and wax collectors, this double A-side single has been pressed onto a beautiful, teardrop shaped translucent blue vinyl.

The ‘Look Around The Corner’ LP came out in 2012, marking the first full collaborative album from musical soulmates Quantic and Alice Russell, two of the UK’s best loved independent artists and leading lights of the international funk, soul and alternative dance music scene. Testament to its massive crossover appeal, the accolades for the album include BBC 6Music Album of the Day and praise in the likes of Q, Uncut, The Arts Desk, Songlines, BBC Music, Clash, Wax Poetics; and it has gone on to sell 25,000 copies and counting.

“I’d Cry” is a modern take on seventies soul ballads, on which Russell’s heartfelt candy-laced vocals play bittersweet call-and-response with gypsy-folk violins and the dancing piano keys of Alfredito Linares, one of the musical stars of the record. Gracing the flip-side is “Here Again”, another original Quantic and Alice composition from the album, showcasing the sheer depth and quality of this musical pairing – from Quantic’s trademark fingerpicked guitar hook and feather-light production, laced with a breezy and tropical Latin flavour, to the blues and gospel inspired lyrics.
